Hello, my name is Raven. I am a stunning, quiet, and relaxed adult female English Cream Golden Retriever with a sweet, squishy face who, although I have a good appetite, is more snuggle motivated than food motivated!! Hee, hee!! I am a very sweet girl with a hint of a stubborn side so I guess one could say that I’m perfectly Minnesotan am I right!?! Hee, hee!!
I have only been exposed to children outside on trails, but I am SOOO sweet & gentle and will even let you know with a little growl, if you’re doing something I don’t like, so if there are kids in my new home, I think I’d be great with them as long as they’re kind to me. I am still learning how to fetch, but I love going on long leashed walks, exploring everything, napping the day away, and playing with all toys…I mean, I’ve got tug toys, fluff toys, chew toys, Kongs…you name it! I am also a huge peanut butter fan and bacon aficionado, but I have a strong dislike for carrots!! Additionally, I find that occasionally giving the cat a hard time makes the day a bit more interesting. Hee, hee! Don’t worry though, I’m always respectful! Oh yeah, I think I should mention that as long as I’m kept entertained, I keep my chewing to my toys, but I have been known, on occasion…you know, when I’m starved for attention (hee, hee), to chew on something I shouldn’t! NOOOO, silly not the cat…things like rugs or towels!!
I am a non-destructive girl who is potty, and crate trained, and I know commands like “sit” and “go potty”. That said, foster mom is trying to teach me that I should go potty in my own yard rather than insisting on walking down the block to do it. I don’t think mom gets me at all…doesn’t she realize that going down the block means that not only do I get a bit of exercise which is ALWAYS a good thing, but I also get more quality time with her! Another thing about me is that I’m a bit picky about who my doggie friends are, but I will let you know if I don’t like one. Additionally, large parties where there are other dogs can be very overwhelming for me so I need to have a special place where I can go to feel safe. Foster mom thinks that I’m fine being an only dog in the house, but she also thinks that having a doggie companion would help me learn to do my business in my OWN yard AND that winter booties are actually a good thing but … I say, “I doubt it!” Hee, hee!!
Anyway, all I need now is YOU!!! I am looking for a furever home with a patient family who will not only love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me but will also provide me with the continued obedience training and socialization I need so I may reach my full potential. I have an enormous amount of love to share with a VERY lucky family, and believe me, I am more than worth it!! Love, Raven
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
