Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!

Hello! My name is Peony and I am a super cute and sweet healthy adult female Shih Tzu. I am a happy little lady, who loves to play, play, play, and be held.
My foster mom says that I am “the cutest little girl you have ever seen” and that I have a “constant smile on my face.” She’s probably right! I love to play with other doggies and run in the yard. I am not aggressive but will admittedly try to establish my dominance. Since being with my foster mom I have learned about toys and they are awesome, I can’t believe what I’ve been missing out on. Some of my favorites toys are balls, stuffed animals, and bones. I’ll admit that I may try to chew on something that I’m not supposed to but it’s okay, I’m very smart and if you just tell me “No” and give me something else on which to chew, I will happily take it and go lay down. I will also admit that I’m a bit of a toy hoarder…I like to gather up as many toys as I can including whatever toy I have in my mouth at the time…you have to remember that this “toy” thing is new to me!
I do well in a crate/kennel especially because I feel safe in there and I actually seem to sleep best when I’m in there. My foster mom has tried to let me sleep in a doggie bed, but I get very anxious and run around aimlessly until she puts me in my kennel where I feel safe again. I am, for the most part, a quiet girl, but if I’m left in a room alone without a human with me, I will voice my discontent. I like you humans and prefer to have you with me.
I have had a couple accidents in the house, so my foster mom puts a diaper on me and I really don’t mind it. Most of the time when she takes it off it’s still dry, so our diligent potty training is really working and I even know the command to go outside. I am a rock-star!!
I am fearful of loud noises and a lot of commotion, so I don’t know how I’d do with kids and have not had any time with those meowy things. As for leashes…I don’t like them much and my body just freezes up whenever my foster mom puts one on me.
My foster mom is funny she says that I have the “cutest little face” with a nose that is “literally as cute as a button.” I don’t know what these “buttons” are, but I’m pretty sure that they are nowhere near as cute as my nose, so I think she said it backwards, but I won’t tell if you don’t.
If you’re looking for an adorable button-nosed friend who doesn’t have a mean or aggressive bone in my little body then you and I need to meet. I will be here awaiting your arrival…please hurry though, I want us to start our life together as soon as possible!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
