Paws

Hi! I'm Billy. I'm a timid guy and I take a while to warm up, but my foster mom says I'm worth the wait. I made her sit on the floor next to my hiding spot for a month before I started coming out. Now, though - I like to yell at her and stand on my back legs to demand cuddles. You can tell when I'm really happy because I will drool all over your hands.  My foster mom can pick me up and carry me around the house now, as long as she doesn't mind a shirt full of my fur afterward.

I like to play once in a while, but I'm mostly a chill dude who wants to snooze in a warm bed near my favorite person. I love to scratch on my scratching post, and my favorite perches are on top of my cat tree in a sunny window and a big fluffy bed on a rocking chair.  It took me a while to figure that out, and I did a lot of hiding while I was figuring it out.  My foster was smart enough to keep me in a room where the hiding spots were easy for her to see into and reach me.  Now I get so happy when she takes out my brush, I roll all over to show her the spots I want brushed. Catnip makes me really happy too.

I don't like other cats, and I really don't like dogs. I haven't warmed up to the child in my foster home either, so I'd probably prefer a few quiet (patient) adults and no other pets in my forever house.  I LOVE to empty my water bowl.  My foster mom gave me a heavy water fountain and I haven't been able to tip it over.  I also get bad kitty acne so I'll need ceramic or metal bowls.

I came from a hoarding situation and didn't learn the best manners early on.  I've been learning about how to keep my claws in when I paw at humans to get pets, and I've gotten good at it. My foster mom has been working on nail trims; so far I need medication to get through it but I'm getting better. I am great at using my litter box.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
