FUN CITY DOGS- Sat, June 23 12:30pm - 2:30pm - 2213 Snelling Ave, Minneapolis, MN

Penelope is about 9 years old and 10 pounds.  She is a darling little girl who is  learning that humans can be nice. Penelope may seem hesitant or fearful towards new things and people (seems to bond more with women) at first, but don't let that fool you. She is a true Curious George at heart and extremely affectionate .  Once she feels comfortable and safe with you, your lap will be her favorite place to relax. 

Penelope is very adaptable and learns quickly. Like most pups, she enjoys treats, toys, and walks around the neighborhood. She gets very excited and wags her tail every way when she hears the leashes come out, anticipating an adventure around the neighborhood. She is crate trained and working on her house training.

Penelope is looking for a very special family that can support her as she navigates a new change in her life. She had glaucoma and both of her eyes had to be removed. She has been adjusting to the loss of sight extremely well. Because of her lack of vision, she would do best in a relatively quiet and orderly home (she doesn't want the furniture moved around too much!). Despite losing her sight, she hasn't missed a beat and follows nose down the sidewalk with joy.  Her playful side is slowly emerging and her foster family is hopeful she may learn to play as she grows more comfortable around people. Since she is so shy right now and no longer has vision, she would do best in a home with no small children.

Her foster parents are working on helping her along her journey, which will take some patience and time. Give her a quiet home, walks, and some love and patience, and she will be the happiest little pup! 

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
