Hello, there! - I'm Jackie O. I'm named after an amazing woman and my foster mom says I'm a pretty amazing girl myself. I'm 5 yrs old, housebroken and love people and other dogs. I'm still trying to figure out what the "cat" thing is in the house. Seems like just a small dog but I'm not sure. I'm a bit timid at first but curious about anything new. I've just learned how to go up and down stairs although my foster mom makes me go slow. I'm a little clumsy with my big, fuzzy paws and wood stairs are slippery! My foster fur-brothers are showing me how to play in the yard. And, did you know that dogs get treats when they come in from doing their business outside? I have decided that treats are pretty great but foster mom says I can't ask to keep going in and out just to get them. She says I'm a smarty pants for figuring that out. I'm still not sure about playing with toys in the house but I like being on my dog bed or anywhere near you. I will follow you around and I like getting ear rubs and pets as often as possible. Foster dad says I'm a sweet, lovable 60 pound teddy bear that has the potential to be a wonderful couch potato.
I know ladies don't usually have beards but, well, I have a small one. It gets a little messy when I eat and drink but I don't mind having my face washed or wiped off. I do need to be groomed regularly and I like to have my coat brushed. I also like walks and am very good on a leash. I would love to have my very own family with another dog pal and, hopefully, some kids to play with me. I have a lot of love to give. May I give it to you?
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE: FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
