My name is Acacia and I am a 7 year old Papillon and weigh 19 pounds.
I am a real social butterfly and rest assured that I am as smart as I am pretty. I love to be with my people and cuddle! I am very smart and pick up on training quickly. Give me a couple of treats and I will do everything I can to make you happy! I love to chew on my bones (pig ears are my favorite!) and am very food motivated – I’m not picky at all! Sometimes I may even try to keep my favorite bone to myself. My foster family is teaching me to share it.
I can be a little shy when I am introduced to a new person or surrounding. After just a tiny bit of time passes, I will sit with new people and become comfortable. I enjoy spending time with older children as well. All I want to do is love people. And eat treats!
I am doing great at potty training! If you give me treats when I go outside, I will always go whenever you take me out. I can use a potty pad if needed, but do most of my business outside. I am crated a few hours a day and am told that I am awesome in the crate! I am especially quiet when I have a nice bone to keep me company. Every once in a while, I may whine or bark, but it’s usually to go to the bathroom or to tell you that I miss you. Put me back in there after a quick potty break and you won’t hear from me again!
You might say that I am the type of pup who likes to stop and smell the flowers. I enjoy every moment. Sometimes this makes my walks a little slow, but we are working on it! There is just so much to enjoy as a pup in a home. My foster mom has been teaching me commands like “sit” and how to take treats nicely. I already mastered the take treats nicely part and almost have learned how to sit. I hope you are impressed!
If your home needs a spunky and loving pup, I am your gal!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
