Meet Yukon – A Playful, Loving Maltese Puppy Ready for His Forever Home
Yukon is a joyful and affectionate Maltese puppy who is full of life and love. At just under 7
pounds and between 6 months to a year old, he has all the energy and curiosity you’d expect
from a young pup. He’s looking for a home that will continue guiding him as he learns the ropes
of being the perfect companion.
As a Maltese, Yukon embodies many of the wonderful qualities that make this breed so beloved.
Maltese are known for their affectionate nature, intelligence, and playful spirit. They thrive on
human companionship and are often described as lively and adaptable little dogs that form strong
bonds with their people. Yukon is no exception—he loves to be near his humans and is a great
snuggler when he’s not busy playing.
And play he does! Whether it’s zooming around the yard, chasing after toys, or romping with
other dogs. He has a fun and sometimes passionate play style, so if his new home includes other
dogs, they should be comfortable with a playful pup who likes to jump and nip in good fun. He
enjoys his walks and does really well on a leash, making him a great fit for an active household
that will keep him engaged. He’s been good in a fenced yard as well.
While Yukon is friendly and affectionate, he can be a little shy at first with new people. He will
shiver when nervous—he’s little and still learning about the big world around him— but once he
warms up, he’s all in. Yukon is ready for your cuddles and your companionship. He’s also a
fantastic travel buddy, riding well in the car. Imagine the oohs and aahs when you pull up to
Starbucks for a pup cup!
Yukon is still perfecting his potty training, but with a consistent schedule, he’s getting really
close. He is crate-trained and settles down after about 10 minutes of barking or whining. He has
mastered climbing stairs but is still working up the courage to go down them, so he may need a
little help with that---either teaching or extra snuggles when carried down.
He’s a good eater and treat motivated. Bully sticks? Frozen blueberries? Yup, Yukon is all in for
those. He is good with children and has not been tested with cats. While he would love a playful dog
sibling, he doesn’t require one as long as his people are home most of the time and will play and
interact regularly.
With his soft, fluffy coat and bright, expressive eyes, Yukon is as adorable as he is loving. Like
many Maltese, he will need regular grooming to keep his coat in great condition, and he will
thrive in a home that enjoys caring for this beautiful breed.
If you’re looking for a sweet, energetic pup who will bring joy, affection, and fun into your life,
Yukon is ready to meet you! Are you the perfect match for this lovable little pup? Reach out today to learn more about adopting Yukon!
**Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work!
P
lease note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void. We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.
Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee. Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application.
We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.
