Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!
Hi, I’m Darnold and I’m still a puppy so of course I like all things and learning so many new things! Some of the things I’ve been learning that are the hardest are potty training (which honestly were just a few in the house mostly due to my humans trying to learn my schedule and signs) and leash walking. But I am training my humans pretty well – hee hee!
My people are great at playing fetch with me and tug of war. I take great pride into finding sticks and having zoomies in the yard. Sunny days are the best days! I really would like a fenced yard to continue my wood gathering obsession and to zip around freely whenever I’d like. And since that leash walking hasn’t been perfected, this helps me get out the crazies. If you’re home more than not, I can be an only doggie. Or if you have one, that’s just fine too.
I’ve been trying to teach the humans that when I bark, I’d like to get out of the crate or go potty. Truthfully, if there might be a stranger nearby, I’ll bark then too.
The humans have complained about my wanting to chew on things but they set some boundaries and distract me with good things to chew on or play with, and that usually solves it. I am easily redirected!
I do take some Omeprazole and Dramamine each morning as my gut has been getting healthier after being rescue. I came from a dirty condition with a breeder and didn't eat good food. This should continue getting better and not need meds each morning once my gut get healthier, but figured I should mention that.
So when you are ready to claim me as your doggie, head over to the applications and let’s get this party started!! Clear your lap because that’s where I belong!
*I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready!
**Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work!
P
lease note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise. Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of. Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family. It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. Darnold should have his breathing evaluated between 16-18 months to see if he needs nares and soft palate surgery. This will be at the adopters expense, if needed, when full grown. It is estimated that 80% of bulldogs require this surgery.
Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses. The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application. They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!
This dog requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void. We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee. Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application.
