Hi there!!  My name is Nasa. I’m a young adult female Standard Poodle.  I love to go on walks and I love to get treats. I will be easy to train because I love my treats so much.  Yum!   Foster mom says I’m a goofy dog but I think that mostly I just want to please my human and be loving (I really have a lot of love to give!).  I like to meet the staff at Home Depot when we do our walk throughs, especially if they have nice, yummy treats for me.  Sometimes the noisy carts and the way those doors open like magic (!) is a bit scary but I’m getting better.

I’m having fun with my foster sister and she is helping me be more confident on walks.  I let mom dress me for the weather because I want to go on my walks very much. Hopefully you have a Nasa size jacket for me! There were kids in my previous foster home and we got along great. I liked to be involved in snack time and play time - hee hee!  The only time I occasionally bark is when I get excited during play time with another dog. I’m a polite girl and I don’t beg for food but I will wait patiently while you finish eating.  I like to follow my person around the house but I give you space when you ask me.  I love to play tug of war but I am respectful of my toys and when we play. My forever home should not have small dogs or other pets. I get a little too excited and my brain says CHASE and I accidently play too hard. If there is a cat, it needs to be dog savvy. If there are dogs, it is preferred they are over 20 pounds.

I know what lots of words mean – I know you will be amazed!  I know sit, down, stay, come, wait, leave it, kennel/crate/ and sit pretty. I am fully potty trained and crate trained.  I walk nicely on a leash and will go potty so I won’t need a fenced yard.  I would prefer a forever home with another larger dog so I would have someone to play with and cuddle.  But, if my people are home most of the time, take me many places with them, and exercise me regularly that might be OK.  Maybe they could throw some doggy play time in there. I would LOVE that!

Foster mom thinks I would be a great dog for a forever family who doesn’t have much dog experience because I am a very happy girl, eager to please and very motivated by treats. I’m a sweet girl who is going to bring a lot of joy to my forever family. I can’t wait to meet you!

**Grooming - this dog's coat may have been neglected before arriving at Underdog and it can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as poodles and poodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment. Adopters should be prepared for such expenses. Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
