Hello, my name is Abbie. I am a sweet and very silly young adult female Shiba Inu who likes everything! I have but one question though, I ask YOU… does THIS face even need a bio??? Now undoubtedly, you answered a firm “No” to that question, but I will use this opportunity anyway to tell you a bit about me...After all, they always say, “Never judge a book by its cover.”
So here goes, I have not met any kids or cats and I haven’t been with foster mom very long so we’re still getting to know each other. However, she quickly learned that I am simply WAY too cute for my own good and she calls me Bambi! Hee, hee!! I get a long great with my resident fur sib too but if you ask me…he’s a tad high maintenance! You know… ‘fussy’ and he isn’t as good with others as I am…I don’t mind though; I always respect his boundaries! Seriously, could I BE any more thoughtful!?! Anyway, you can clearly see that I have a great personality and it’s coming out more with each passing day. In fact, I get so excited to see foster mom that I jump like I’m on a pogo-stick when I see her! I also think I’m pretty cool now that I’ve figured out that I can jump up on the couch and I don’t even mind car rides or baths!
Now, although a fenced yard is always a plus, I wouldn’t say it’s a necessity per se because I have gotten “100x better” (her words, not mine) at walking on the leash. That said, I currently do my business on a washable potty pad, but mom is helping me learn that I should do it outside. I am getting good too because I will bark if I need to go potty even if I’m in my kennel/crate. I suppose I should admit though, that if I alert while I’m in my kennel and nobody heeds my call, I may just go right there! You have been warned!
Mom adores me SO much that she’s going to be really sad when YOU come to take me to my new home. However, she knows that I have been waiting my whole life for YOU…a patient person who will forever love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me! I’m thinkin’ you should stop reading right now and fill out an application so we can get on with our lives (Hee, hee). See you soon!! Love, Abbie
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
