Hello, my name is Salem.  I am an independent and very handsome boy with a gorgeous dark black coat and the most piercing yellow/green eyes you’ve ever seen!  Foster mom says I’m “super handsome” too, so you KNOW it’s true! Anyway, I am a big boy…not overweight…just big! Hee, hee!!  Foster mom says that I am a “nice weight for cuddling” which is totally true, there’s no need for a weighted blanket when I’m around!

I am a rather independent fellow. I would be ok living with another independent cat or dog or being an only pet. I would love to have all the attention, however, I will hiss but won’t bother other cats or dogs who dont bother me. I do not like having my tummy rubbed, but I do love being brushed! I am unsure of new people picking me up until I trust them.  I love laying & playing with kids.   I am curious and smart and I will go into a kennel for transport; I use a litterbox, and I come when my name is called, or I hear “time to eat”!  Mom says I am also quite a “hoot”!!  Not only am I happy to be brushed, but I enjoy batting toys around, chasing lasers, and partaking in some occasional catnip.  My favorite activity in the world, however, is conversing with my people!  That’s right…I am super talkative and quite the conversationalist if I do say so myself!  Whether I’m saying “Heelllooo, it’s time for dinner!”, or “Hey, you missed scratching this spot right here!”, or “Did I SAY you could get up yet?” …I LOVE to tell my people exactly what’s on my mind!!  In fact, foster mom and I will just go back & forth in conversation and it must be said that we’ve had some great heart-to-hearts!  Hee, hee!!

Anyway, I have a lot of fun with foster mom and her kids, but my dream is to find a fur-ever home of my own with a wonderful family that will love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me!  If YOU will be my new family, I promise I will love you with every part of my being and I will share my deepest secrets with you…I will be the best confidant you’ve ever had!!  Love, Salem

Please note that this is a strictly indoor cat. This kitten may may require a home with another kitten as kittens are  family oriented and do best when adopted in littermate pairs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
