LOOKING FOR LAPS!! If you are ready to give up your personal space, your lap, your couch and your heart to a Texas gal – look no further!! Pick me!!! I was found as a stray, languished in the shelter and finally made my way to Minnesota, where I surprised everyone with eight stowaway puppies. They have all been adopted out to wonderful homes and now it is my turn!

I am hungry to give and receive love and pets. I’m human-focused, treat motivated and Foster Mom says very smart. I crate quietly when left alone for short periods, am fully potty trained, sleep quietly in my crate next to the human bed all night long and walk on the leash like a pro. I am learning sit, lay down, stay (for a bit), leave it and the “touch” commands. And I have excellent recall (because I love my people so much). While I’m told I’m smart, pottying on the leash is a challenge for me, so I adore the fenced back yard!! A fenced yard with squirrels will be even better! I have a pretty high prey drive, so cats are not the best idea unless they are dog savvy. I love to play! I am figuring out the joy of soft and hard chew toys. Foster Mom says I am an outstanding retriever – I’ll bring back the ball, frisbee, whatever she throws. And she loves the way I bound after it. I make her laugh.  I currently live with a small foster brother and a medium sized foster sister and I enjoy them both. I have a lot of energy and can play chase or tag with my foster sister all day long. However, Foster Mom says I can get over-excited and maybe even a bit over-protective of my humans when meeting new dogs. So slow intros to a new dog will be best for me.

Since I came up from Texas, I was pretty much isolated to the home because I was in heat – whoops, make that pregnant, then whelped and raised my puppies, then was spayed. The family of one of my puppies did a DNA test and there is a fun mix of cattle dog, cocker spaniel, terrier and many more, so my friends at Underdog are making a guess on my breed, regardless I am a unique looking gal!

N ow the world feels brand new to me! Foster Mom is getting me out around people and dogs as much as possible. That effort should remain as I go to my new home, to help me to remember there is a wonderful world out there, beyond being a mama dog. The perfect family for me would be one where my humans are around more than they are gone; or at least can give me time to adjust to being alone. I’m used to having my people with me almost all of the time. Also a home without small children – while I love them when they are giving pets and sitting quietly, I get scared of all the loud and unpredictable noises they make; I’d never hurt them, they just can be scary sometimes. I’d thrive in an active home, with lots of walks and exercise, maybe I could be a running partner!! I’ve never been camping (at least I haven’t been able to tell anyone I have) and that sounds like fun. I’m up for adventures followed by snuggle time. I just want the chance to be the one my people give all their time, love and affection to. I promise, I’ll give my loyalty and devotion back in spades.

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
