Hello! My name is Queenie! I’m a female Corgi that weighs about 19 pounds and 6 years old. My foster mom says I am beautiful, smart and I’ve learned so much just from watching the resident dog! I am a work in progress and my people are confident that will some patience and love I will continue to make great progress.

Despite being a timid and very shy girl, I like to be near my people and find comfort in knowing where they are just in case I get worried about something new. When I first came to my foster home, I was scared of a lot of things – everything was so new to me. Being in a house, sounds like the dishes clinking, doors being slammed and the quick movements of the little people in the house all worried me. With some time I am settling in and have amazed my foster family with how brave I am! I have learned so many things – recently I started going up AND down a long staircase – considering my short little legs and the likelihood this is my first time using stairs I think I am have great potential!

It is important that I have another confident dog in my forever home to help me learn about all the good dog things. So far, the dogs in my foster home have taught me to use the doggy door – we all run out to the fenced back yard to do our business! The backyard was initially overwhelming – I don’t know that I have ever been on such a lovely lawn that I hesitated to go on the grass. Now – watch out grass – my corgi butt is coming for you! We are working on potty training and with the fenced yard and the other dogs to show me where to go, I am doing good on a routine. My people keep offering me treats when I come inside, I don’t know what treats are! We didn’t have them where I came from so hoping my forever people have dogs that can let me in on the secret about treats.

I finally figured out how to walk on a leash! My people said that I am as slow as a turtle, but I make up for it in showing you how excited I am to go on our morning walk. I do a funny little corgi butt shake and dance. I have also started to show my people how much I appreciate them by letting them pet me. This is great progress for such a shy girl! I love that foster mom has so much patience and giving me my space to watch what is going and get comfortable. My people said that I am really thriving with the right kind of attention and unconditional love.

All I need now is to find a patient forever family who will love me unconditionally and teach me so many new things! If you are looking for a gentle new friend than you have just met your perfect match! Love Queenie

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
