Hi, my name is Parker (AKA Petey) and I am a cuddly, affectionate King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. I may only be 20lbs, but I have a HUGE heart and cannot wait to have a family to fall in love with forever!
The most important thing to know about me is that I am a people person. Seriously. I want to be with you through it all. Whether it’s helping out with the gardening, hanging out next to you during the work day, or curling up on the couch to watch a movie at night, I just want to spend as much time as I can with you! This means I will be happiest in a place where I have a family member home most of the day, no matter how old you are - I’m completely comfortable with humans of all ages. Since I don’t need much personal space to be content, I prefer not being cooped up in a crate. When I’m all by myself in there I can get talkative (barking), so if you do need to leave, I like to curl up by your shoes and wait for you to come home. And while you’re home, I will need assistance with one little thing. I tend to have dry eyes, so having a family with opposable thumbs that can put in my daily eye drops is a must!
Although I’m happiest when I’m around my humans, I don’t have a problem with other dogs either. I am okay making new friends, but I would prefer having family close by during these introductions. And as long as my people are near, I don’t need to have another dog in the house to feel comfortable. Oh, and how do I feel about cats? Honestly, the jury is still out on that one. But, given my friendly, gentle nature, my foster family doesn’t see that being a big issue.
When I’m not spending time with you, I like being in the great outdoors! Sunbathing is a personal favorite outside activity for me :) For exercise, I am a fan of going for walks around the neighborhood to see what’s happening. I am very comfortable having these walks being my main source of outdoor time - I’m not the type of guy that needs a fenced yard to be happy. And the best part? My foster family says that I have great walking habits! Being good on a leash isn’t the only skill I’ve picked up. I’m also smart enough to know “Sit,” “Come,” “Outside,” and “Go Potty” - and I can’t wait to learn more commands with you! Oh, and did I mention that I am potty trained too?? If you want to reward me for my good behavior, I will gladly have some treats, but truth be told, I’m not that food motivated. As for playing with toys, this isn’t something I do yet, but I’m starting to learn!
My foster parents’ put it best when they say I “just want to be loved.” It doesn’t take a lot to make me happy, just knowing that you’re there for me each day is enough. So, if you’re looking for a buddy to pass the time with at home, please considering bringing me into your family!
Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
