Hello my name is Ingrid, I am the most beautiful, sweet and gentle 90lb Bernese Mountain Dog, that you will ever have the opportunity to meet. You may even have had dreams of seeing my beautiful face has I rescue you in the Swiss Alps. While I do like to get outside, but  I’m actually more of a chalet kinda girl, and hope that you will want to rescue me instead! I really prefer to lounge in the sun rather than saving the world and running wild.

I sure am living the good life now. My days are laid back with lots of napping, lounging and watching the world go by.  I also get lots of belly scratches from the humans here and hope you will continue with this luxury when I come home with you. I’ve been told I deserve all the lounging, love and belly rubs I can get. I have even learned that if I use my paw to pull your hand toward me, I will get even more!  When I see you coming to wake me up in the morning, my tail wag and wags, cuz I know that my day will be full of love, naps and belly rubs.

My foster mom calls me a “gentle giant.” Well, I am a Bernese Mountain Dog, and although the vet says I could lose a few pounds, I’m in a healthy range for my breed.

My foster mom is so happy that I go in my crate quietly and just relax without at peep. She is also very impressed with how friendly I am with all dogs and even the resident cat, who sneaks up on me and steals my food. I don’t really mind though, I love everyone, even food stealing cats. I am a very well behaved and refined young lady and when I am taken outside on a regular basis, I will promise to do the business at hand and not in the house.

Although I don’t really need another dog to keep me company, it would be kind of nice to have another four legged friend in the house to help me keep an eye on things. I would thrive in a home with a friend that can play with a dog my size would be best. A fenced yard is also required, my foster family is working on leash training, but I freeze on a leash. I would need my furever family to keep practicing with me.

If you like big fluffy fur balls who like to get belly rubs and lounge around with her humans, then I’m your perfect match. Thanks! Ingrid

Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
