Hello! My name is Tarzan! I’m a male Pomeranian dog who weighs about 16 pounds and is almost 6 years old. My foster mom says I can be a bit shy at first but also that I’m very sweet. I’m still learning about home life, and I like to watch human action from my crate, but I’m becoming more comfortable with exploring each day. I love pets and I’m learning how to ask for them. I’m becoming less shy around humans with every new fur friend I get to play with! I told my foster mom to make sure my furever home has another dog in it for me to play with so that I can be my most authentic self. One of my favorite things to do is run around in my backyard. I also told my foster mom that i prefer my furever home has a fenced yard because I'm still a little worried on a leash. Foster mom has been helping me practice in the yard and I will go potty on the leash, but not ready to hit the streets yet. If my forever family doesn't have a fenced yard, they would need to make a commitment to continue leash training. I also love to chase squirrels, play with other dogs, chew on fluffy toys, eat a lot of treats, and take naps. My biggest fears are overwhelming commotion and sudden movements. I will retreat to my crate if I get nervous or am worried. Because I get a little worried around commotion, I would need children to understand to take it slow since I am timid.
I’m still working on going potty only outside, but I’m making great progress! I am trained to sleep in my crate every night which is where I prefer to sleep. One thing humans say that I understand is “up up!” which means that I’m going to get picked up. I get along well with all friendly dogs and I only bark when I’m playing with my fur friends! I think I would get along well with a friendly cat because I’m not an aggressive fur friend.
I know that I’m a work in progress on some things, but I also know that I’m going to be fully comfortable being an absolute love bug one day! I’m a goofy little boy under my fluffy exterior and I’m very confident when I have a fluffy pal in my home to help with my shyness. If you’re looking for an adorable, goofy, loving, entertaining, and fluffy little dog then I’m the one who’s going to melt your heart. See you soon! Love, Tarzan.
Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
