Hello, my name is Fedir. Although I am vision and hearing impaired, I am one happy, confident, playful, and sassy little guy! That’s right, I may not see and hear like other dogs, but I sure can have fun like the others! I love to play with toys and let me just tell you right now that no matter how many toys I might have…there are never enough! Hee, hee!!! My favorite activities include using my toys to tease my resident fur sib, playing a good game of chase, exploring a securely fenced yard, having my beautiful fur brushed, and snuggling!! I admit that my favorite toy changes daily, but I can assure you that it’s usually the closest stuffed animal I can find! Tee, hee!! I love to be where the action is, and I have been told that I’m an ‘instigator’! Wink, wink!! Truth is that my charming personality, rugged good looks, and zest for life make me truly irresistible!! Oh yeah, and I run the best zoomies you have ever seen!!!

Now, I don’t like to think of my vision and hearing impairment as ‘disabilities’ so please let me tell you more about my ‘abilities’. I can see and hear some things and not others so I will definitely require a doggie companion in my new home who can be my eyes and ears for me. I do not have auditory recall like a hearing dog, and I like to go off on my own adventures so I will need a fenced yard to ensure my safety and a furever family who will be able to keep a close eye on me. I love to learn but learning new things takes me longer than others, so my family needs to be extra patient and allow me extra time to learn things! By the way, a consistent routine is extremely helpful in this capacity! For example, I have learned from my foster sibs to sit and wait for my treat when I come in from outside. Now, I understand that this is not an ‘obedience command’ per se but I think it’s a great example of how smart I am!! I guess what I’m really trying to say is this… I am in search of a furever family who is AS AMAZINGLY SPECIAL AS I AM!!!

I am fearful of loud noises and being quickly approached, so kids are not a good fit for me, unless they completely understand my needs! Additionally, I like to chase and engage the cats in my foster home to play and chase - I am still learning how to respectfully play with them and learning how to understand how those meowy things like to play.  Hey, just because my eyes and ears don’t work the best doesn’t mean my sniffer doesn’t! I’m just sayin’! Anyway, I am crate trained and have been working on leash and potty training, and I am confident that with practice and a consistent schedule I will master both in no time. I can be a bit of a chatty Chuck, when I’m playing, left in my kennel or when I smell my dinner, but can you blame me?? It’s food and I am, after all, super treat motivated especially when plain yogurt, peanut butter, bananas, raspberries, or blueberries are involved. In fact, it’s safe to say that I have yet to find a treat that I don’t like!

Now I just need to find the furever home I have always dreamed about. A home that is full of unconditional love and patience with a family who will not only NEVER give up on me but will keep me safe! I truly believe that YOU are the angel of my dreams…you may not be perfect but that makes two of us, so we are more than perfect for each other! I love you already, Fedir

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
