Hi there! My name is Oakley and I am a handsome male Corgi. I’m somewhere between 4 and 8 years old and weigh about 25 lbs. I spent the first several years of my life as a breeder and I am so happy to be here in Minnesota getting a second chance at a comfy, cozy life! I love my new foster brother and sister, but I’m a bit slower to warm up to humans I don’t know. I do require a fur sibling in my forever home to help build my confidence and show me what this being a dog thing is all about.

Chewing on bones is my new favorite pastime. It feels to good on my toofers! And I love running around in the backyard with my foster siblings and leashes still scare me, so a fenced-in yard is a must for my forever home. I still need training when it comes to walks in a leash, so I’d love a patient family that will slowly help me figure out that exploring the world outside of my forever home is a good thing to do. I’m rocking my potty training and go both outside and on potty pads. I know what “go potty” and “outside” mean and I’m also crate trained, so you can check that off your list!

My foster mom says I never bark and I guess that’s supposed to be a good thing. I’m also very respectful of the cats in my foster home, so if you have those at your house I promise to be nice to them, too. I’m not a huge fan of commotion or loud noises, so a calm home environment would be best for me. I haven’t met any kids yet, so I’m not sure how I’d do with them.

All in all, my foster mom says I’m a big sweetie. I just need a bit more time to realize that humans are innately kind and loving. Would you help teach me that? I sure would love it if you would! If you can promise to love me unconditionally and NOT give up on me, I promise that we’ll make the best of friends!

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
