Well hello there! My name is Verna and I am a 12 lb. extra fluffy 6 year old Pomeranian gal. I can be a bit shy at first, but once I get to know my humans I am all about the pets and rump scratches. My foster mama says I have the most adorable little waddle and I’d have to agree with her because I like to prance around and strut my stuff! I really do enjoy being part of a pack and would benefit from a fur sibling to help build my confidence, but I haven’t shown much interest in actually playing with other pups quite yet. I get along well with pups my size and cats, but I haven’t met any big dogs yet. I do think we could be friends though!

I very much enjoy and need a daily brushing and floofing. Because I have such a fluffy double coat this is something my new family will need to do on a daily basis. I will need professional grooming sessions a few times per year to prevent matting of my undercoat and the area around my lady bits in the back will need to be trimmed regularly as well. My foster mom took me to a professional groomer once already and said I was a very good girl. The groomer even said she’d love to have me as a regular client! I can be a bit of a talker sometimes if I’m in my kennel and my people aren’t near me or if I want some extra attention, but I don’t go overboard on the talking. I also like to let my people know that someone is at the door ringing that bell thing. I do sleep well in my kennel though, so no issues there.

I’m working really hard on my potty training and do OK on a schedule. I’m not great on a leash yet because it’s still pretty scary for me, but I’m also working really hard on learning to master these skills. Having a fenced-in yard at my forever home is a must for me to master both my potty training and leash walking skills. There’s this scary deck thing with stairs at my foster mom’s house and I like to be carried up and down the stairs, but I do just fine with the carpeted stairs inside the house. My favorite snacks are frozen duck feet, dehydrated beef lung treats, and beef gullet bites. So yummy!

My foster mama says I have a very sweet, gentle, fun personality and thinks I’m quite adorable to watch prance around the house. I love to be carried around and nothing is better to me than snuggles and pets from my humans. If you think I sound like the perfect pup for you that you will love unconditionally and NOT give up on, then fill out an application for me so I can come home with you and help you start 2022 off with a whole lotta fluffy love! Love, Verna

Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
