Hello, my name is Zinnia. I am an adult female Yorkie and as my name implies, I am a beautiful, petite little flower of a girl! I have come a long way since coming to live with foster mom. I am becoming more social with people and have learned that a laid-back day of napping, cuddles with my foster brothers, and belly rubs is about all a gal like me needs in life! Ok, food is a must too and I loves me some food…especially blueberry treats and pretty much whatever foster mom is eating! Hee, hee!!

It's true, I’m currently not very active nor am I a big fan of toys right now but foster mom and I think my interest in them may change in time…we’ll see! Additionally, I am quite opposed to learning how to use that string thing you humans call a ‘leash’. After all, I have the luxury and security of a fenced yard in which to frolic. It must be said that the freedom the fence provides is way too amazing to give up so my new home will need to have one too! By the way, I should tell you that in addition to my aversion to overwhelming commotion, I also dislike cold weather. I would much rather be comfy cozy in a warm lap! I am good with other dogs especially those my size and though I have not yet met any kids or cats, I’m a docile girl so I think I’d be ok with them if foster mom approves a meeting. I am working diligently on potty training but am confident that patience, practice, and a consistent schedule will help me master it. I am good at giving mom a holler if I want something and I will put up a fuss if I’m put in that cave, you people call a ‘kennel/crate’. I’m just sayin’ you have been forewarned! Hee, hee!!

Anyway, mom says that I am “a sweet little girl who would make a great companion” and she could not be more spot on! I have an enormous heart that is full of love that I am just waiting to share with my new family. If you are patient and promise to love me unconditionally and NOT give up on me then I would love for YOU to be my furever family! Please come meet me, I know we’ll immediately fall in love! I promise I am worth it!! Love, Zinnia

Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
