Hello, my name is Zelena. I am very gorgeous, sweet young adult female Australian Shepherd who is shy around new people but have really started to be brave and am learning all kinds of new things!

Because I am timid, I don’t know if kids are a good fit for me. I have not met any cats but I’m a docile girl, so I don’t think they’d bother me, and I am good with other dogs. Thankfully foster mom is an amazing and is patient lady who has allowed me the time and space I need to get comfortable. She may be second-guessing that decision now because since I’ve become more comfortable with her I’m her little shadow that pretty much sticks to her like glue! Hee, hee!!

Foster mom and I really like our time together. She says I am her sweet girl while she is brushing my hair, I really love getting brushed. I also like treats and being around the people I know, sometimes I am a little worried around visitors or new things like gates. I just don’t get those gate things – don’t walk thru, then we walk thru – someday I will understand.

I am a very happy dog in the morning and likes to jump right in the bed with my foster family and get some snuggles. I just love my people and want to say Good Morning and show them my excited little booty shakes! I also love treat time and my stuffed puppy toy. I really like my stuffie near me when I take a nap in my crate.

We are working on leash training, and I am starting to get excited when it is time to go for walkies. I do go potty on out walks but am still a little timid and learning so do need a fenced backyard. I REALLY love running around the fenced backyard in the snow and seeing so many new things. When the neighbor’s dog barks, I need to go be a little nosy just in case there is something good I should bark at too. I am also very interested in watching dog walkers go by the house.

Anyway, mom says that I have already made a ton of progress since coming to MN so I know I’m well on my way to being the amazing girl I’m destined to be…I’m already the sweetest lady EVER, with the cutest Aussie booty and who gives the BEST cuddles!! Now what I look forward to most is meeting my furever family! Are you patient and promise to love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me? ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
