Hi.. my name is Calandra, but I’m used to being called Callie.  I know that I am a young adult.  I’m not sure what breed I am, but I did hear my foster Mom say I am 100% snuggle bug… I must be one of those new designer dogs!  But on a more serious note, I want you to know that I am looking for a forever home.  

My positive traits are many, but I’m still getting to know my foster family… so I haven’t let them know about all of them yet.  But, I have shown them that I am as cute as a girl can be and I love, love, love to snuggle on the couch!  The other thing I’ve let them know is that I do love to be outside, so a fenced yard that would allow me to continue patrolling the back yard for critters is one of the things that I need in my forever home.  

I really do like to play with other dogs, but I haven’t met any really big ones yet.  I haven’t met any meow animals either, so I’m not sure what I’ll think of them.  My forever home doesn’t have to have another dog as long as you are home most of the time.  I don’t care too much about toys at this point…. I think that’s a good trait because you won’t have to be replacing them all the time!  I’d rather have a good belly rub than a toy! My foster Mom also said I’m a really great eater and a great beggar of people food.  They both sound like positive traits to me, but I think she is trying to convince me that we need to tone down the great beggar part of me!

I’m almost always friendly, but a little bit guarded and shy sometimes. I only bark when I am alarmed….  another positive trait!  I just adore people, so I am happy to meet new ones.  But I haven’t met any kids yet, so I’m not sure how I will react to them.

I don’t have any negative traits, but I have a few things I’m working on.  I am told I am a work in progress when it comes to walking on a leash.  I’m close to being potty trained and I do especially well when I’m on a schedule to go outside.  I also know what the words outside and come mean, but I want to learn more of those words that you people use with your fur friends.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
