Hi I'm Nougat! I was saved from a shelter in Texas so not much is known about my past. My foster mama thinks I was loved, but wasn't quite socialized like I should have been. You see I'm a lover who will jump on my people - not everyone appreciates that though, or so I am told. When I focus in and sit my foster mama says good boy and gives me pets for sitting. I'll give her a quick kiss too. I'm trying hard to be good and would love a family who would take me to Obedience classes and keep teaching me new things! they say I'm a smart guy who is treat motivated and cannot wait to learn new things.

I wag my tail at other dogs, but am learning how best to play with other dogs. I am best with other dogs my size that are non-dominant and have had a few play groups where I do really well and they teach me how to properly say hello and play. My foster mama thinks I want to be friends and play and with some proper and slow training, I am making great progress in learning about friends. Or, I could be your only dog and we could have some solo love time - that works for me, too! My other naughty flaw is that I'm very possessive about food, even yours. I'm currently fed in my kennel so that I know that my food is all mine and that no one will take it from me. I eat it quick and then I'm a happy boy ready to play.

I'm working on my leash skills and doing well on potty training on leash. I love going on walks with you, checking out smells, and seeing what this world has to offer. I also enjoy a good bone and will happily chew on a good one for some time! Foster mom says I would be a good skijorner because I love to be outside and this cold weather doesn't phase my Texas roots! With someone patient and ready to work with me I know I can be a wonderful addition to the right family. I can't wait to find my a family of my very own and hope it is with you! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this dog from Underdog Rescue. Many of our dogs have had a past life as a breeder or stray and were not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this dog has been in a socialized in a loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach dogs the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your dog while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this dog before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
