Hello, my name is Gable. I am a very affectionate and quiet young adult male Yorkie who is new to this home-living scene which means I’m still learning to trust you humans. I typically only bark if something alarms me and I am shy, timid, and afraid of new people. Though I have been warming up rather quickly it is much better if people allow me to approach them in my own time and when I’m ready. That said, one thing I have learned thus far is that I am fearful of men and children, but mom is helping me realize that there ARE some nice men out there! In addition to men and children, I am also fearful of a lot of commotion and loud noises like those annoying thunderstorms… seriously, why is thunder so loud???

Anyway, enough about my fears…let me tell you what I DO like. I LOVE very small, soft treats, an occasional piece of cheese, getting pets, snuggling, and giving the most incredible kisses EVER! I learned very quickly that true love and affection is AMAZING!!! Although toys have not yet piqued my interest, I will initiate play with other doggies who are small like me, and I really hope that my new home has a small doggie companion for me too because I can’t imagine my life without a friend who will help me become more comfortable and trusting of this enormous world and the people in it.

I am working on potty-pad training, and not only do I sleep soundly in my kennel at night, but I have never had an accident in there. I have not had much experience with the leash, but I know that I need a special harness because I like to pull on it...that is of course, when my body’s not freezing up! Hee, hee!! Hopefully my furever parent(s) will take me on leashed walks so I can work on my leash etiquette.

All I need now is to find some unconditional love and stability in a furever home that I can call my own. Are you a patient person who promises to love me unconditionally and NOT give up on me? Are you ready to welcome an adorable, tiny little guy who has an enormous personality into your life?? If you answered “Yes” to those questions than you need not look any further because you have found your soul mate! I have no doubt that we were meant to spend our lives together!! I promise I am totally worth it, and I will love you with every ounce of my being! I may be tiny, but I have an immeasurable heart that is overflowing with love that I am longing to share with YOU!! Love and kisses, Gable.

Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
