Hello, my name is Pearlene. I am a very lovely and happy adult female Maltese who is super curious about this enormous world in which we live. My favorite things include going on leashed walks, chasing squeaky toys, sleeping next to mom’s bed, and eating amazing foods like liverwurst and chicken…YUM!!! I have luxating patellas so when it comes to chasing my toys or going on walks, I always try to be extra careful but foster mom, the doctor and I are watching my knees closely with regular visits to the doc! I know it doesn’t sound like much fun but it’s not that bad…really! Besides, foster mom says I’m “funny” when I chase my toys. Now truth be told, I don’t know if that’s because I run funny or what but as long as I keep my people smiling, I’m happy!

What are my dislikes you ask? Well, let me tell you…I do NOT like being in that cave thing you people call a “kennel/crate” and I really don’t like being left alone!! Make no bones about it either, I will not hesitate for one second to voice my discontent by howling…loudly…if either one of those occurs. On the upside, if mom must leave, I can handle being in the cave ONLY for short periods, and if I have a treat to gnaw on! I have not met any kids or cats, so I don’t know if I like them, but I am fearful of loud noises and am not too sure about men. In fact, I will yell at men when I see them. I also have not met any larger dogs, but I do well with friendly dogs who are more my size and I even think it would be great to have a canine companion in my new home who can show me the ropes. By the way, did I mention that I do my personal business outside? Oh, I didn’t? Well…I do so you can see that I’m a very smart and good girl!

Foster mom says that I’m “a work in progress” and though I don’t really know what that means, she’s a smart lady so I’m sure it’s true. However, I am a very quick study and I enjoy learning new things. All I need now is to find my furever home with someone who promises to love me unconditionally and NOT give up on me! ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
