Hello, my name is Zipper, and I am a young adult male Lab/Hound mix and I weigh just under 40 lbs.

Although I may not be as big as the typical Labrador, I definitely have the energy of one!  Foster mom calls me a “chameleon”, whatever that is.  I am just as happy and comfortable outside, playing fetch and going for long walks, as I am getting belly rubs and snuggling up to you.  I LOVE playing with other furry friends, but I don’t have much experience with cats yet.  I bet I would especially love playing with kids since they have just as much energy and excitement for life as I do!

I am a happy pup that loves to show off my successes.  I will bring you my toys (and sometimes even your socks) to show you how smart I am and how good I am at finding things.  I can be a little nervous around new people but Foster Mom has had no problem introducing me to other humans she brings into our home.  I am a little scared of the vet, so they’re always sure to take extra good care of me.

I am fully potty trained and I am very comfortable with my crate.  Like any dog, I may take a few days to get used to my new home, so my new humans will have to make sure I get plenty of potty breaks outside.  I can stay in my crate for hours at a time while you run errands with no problem - and I will be very happy to see you when you get home!

I do not need a home with a fence, as I am just fine getting my energy out on walks and through play, but boy do I love running around in the yard!  If you do have a fence, you should note how smart I am.  If there are any holes under your fence, I will definitely help you find them so you can patch them up for my safety.  I am a VERY good boy when walking with my leash, but I might pull at first because I am so excited to get going!

Any family that will play with me, love me, take me on walks, and love how smart I am will be a good fit for me, with or without other fur babies in the home.  Mom says I am a good, quiet dog that only ever barks when playing with my fluffy friends.

I hope that my furever family will let me make them laugh with my silly, playful personality.  I am already so excited to play with you!!

Love,  Zipper

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
