Hello, my name is Gail. I am a very energetic and beautiful young female Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix who has never met any little people or cats, but I love other dogs and could play all day long. I love my people very much too and I usually want to be wherever foster mom is, but I also like my independence. For example, I love to spend quality time with myself in our wonderfully fenced yard. Mom says I have a high prey drive which is probably true since my backyard activities include chasing the squirrels and chipmunks I see running through the yard. Boy, I REALLY hope my new home has a fenced yard because the freedom is too fantastic to give up not to mention I haven’t had much experience with that leash thing!!

In addition to frolicking in the backyard my favorite hobbies include chewing on bones, eating treats, playing with squeaky toys, fetch, and running through the sprinkler. I am also a super smart girl who loves to learn new things (especially when treats are involved… hint, hint) and I learn things very quickly like my name and what “outside,” and “kennel/crate” mean. In fact, I will even willingly go into my kennel and sleep soundly at night! I’m so smart and my goal is to please my people, so I worked really hard with foster mom to master house training. And guess what? I am a pro when kept on a schedule and get to know the routine.

Anyway, I would love more than anything to find a furever home with a patient person who will love me unconditionally, teach me new things and will NOT give up on me. My instincts tell me you are that person so are you ready to welcome a happy exuberant angel into your life because I am more than ready to begin my new furever life with YOU!! See you soon, Gail!

Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
