Greetings from Olympus! Thank you for stopping by to learn more about me. I am a handsome, sensitive 4 year-old mixed breed male in search of my furever family. While I am reserved and seem aloof when I first meet strangers, I bond hard when I have gained trust in those who are kind and patient with me. I have settled nicely into my foster home and so my foster mom says it's time to tell my potential new family what to expect should they find me too irresistible to leave behind on these pages.
I am likely a Dachshund mix, and as such, my foster mom says I have many traits of the breed. Indeed, I am proudly stubborn, have seemingly selective hearing, and like to do things my way. If I become bored, you can be sure I will be ambling around the house, looking for something to nibble on - my foster mom's art supplies, certain clothing items, books, paper towels... all are fair game if left unattended. While I detest my crate, my foster family crates me when they leave the home to keep me and the household safe. Mental and physical stimulation make me a happy and more content boy at days end. I require a patient family who is willing to work with me on manners and learning limits and boundaries. I have been especially stubborn with potty-training. Having been homeless prior to coming into rescue, my story is a mystery to others, so my foster family has been patient with teaching me about going potty outside. I would do great on a routine and just so you know I am hesitant to go outside when it is raining. As mentioned above, I will throw a tantrum if crated when my family is home. Conversely, I spin and dance my way to my crate twice daily when it's time to eat - just don't close the door, please. Now on to the awesome stuff about me...
Once you gain my trust, you will see me blossom into a sweet, happy and sensitive soul. I love being near my people and am a world-class snuggler on the sofa and in bed. Those three steps up to the bed are heaven for me, snuggled into a crevice between my people. They even cover me with my own blanket to keep the evening chill at bay. I enjoy hugs, kisses and belly rubs. My favorite things to do are go in and out of the house all day, lie in the sun, be on active squirrel patrol, and play with my Shiba Inu girlfriend. I get along great with the four resident dogs and would like to have a fur-sibling in my new home to continue to show me the ropes and to romp with. Because I enjoy lounging outside and have a high prey drive, I require a fenced yard. I enjoy going on walks and am great on a leash.
Mom and dad are going to miss me SO much when I go to my new home, but they know that I have always dreamed of finding a committed furever family who will love me unconditionally and help me continue to gain confidence and trust in people. Are you ready to welcome a great cuddle buddy into your life? I sure am ready to welcome an incredible furever family into mine! If YOU will be my new family, I promise I will let you give me ALL the chest and tummy rubs you want…seriously, I’m doing it for you!!! Love, Olympus
Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***
I love stuffed toys with a glorious squeaker. I enjoy any kind of quality treat (human & dog!) and non-rawhide chews. My favorite veggie is raw sugar-snap peas!! I like lounging in a soft dog bed or, more preferably, on the couch with a human.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
