Hi ya, I’m Karmi and I’m a very special girl. You see I came to rescue as a breeder release so I didn’t quite understand all the joys there are to being a house dog and how awesome humans can be! I’ve learned quick tho! I reallllllly love my foster brother and I hope you have a dog like him that will play with me and show me the ropes at your house. He let’s me be his shadow sometimes and shows me all the fun stuff. If I’m unsure of a noise car on our walks or even coming into the house (that doorway can be scary sometimes) he lets me know everything is A-Ok. He’s helpful, but really I'm just a quick study….look at me, can’t you see how smart I am?!
We love hanging out in the back yard and chasing the chippies and the squirrels into the trees high above. Foster brother says we are excellent at keeping the squirrel army at bay. Foster mama says I'm a very good girl because I potty outside every time. I do not like potting on a leash tho, so I hope you have a nice fenced area like foster mom. I don’t dig….yet, but I am a husky, so I might help you with your garden and getting holes ready for your flowers in the future. Oh! And I love the little swimming pool! I haven’t quite figured out how to play with toys yet, but I like to run after them when foster mama throws them….I'm waiting for her to tell me what I'm suppose to do when I get to them tho.
My most favorite activity though is wrestling with my foster brother and running fast zoomies all around him. He’s bigger, but I'm quicker. When he doesn’t want to play with me I flop on my back, try to look super cute and wave my paws in the air. This usually does the trick and he decides to wrestle with me some more.
Foster mama says I'm a very smart lady. I LOVE treats and I’m figuring out mama’s words. I know Sit, Down, Kennel, Wait and Come so far, but we are working on some more. I think I would do so good in obedience classes! I am so food motivated I hope you have clean counters, because if not, I will clear those for you too. A lidded and/or locking garbage can would be highly suggested also :) Foster mama says I'm also an excellent leash walker too. I don’t pull, which is amazing considering my breed. I’m still learning to stay in pace with foster mom and my foster brother. Loud noises on walks can spook me a bit, but since foster mom and brother don’t react to them, I’m starting to not react either.
I kennel nicely when told, but at night will yell for a few minutes to let everyone in the house know I would prefer to be in their beds and not in a stinkin' kennel. I give up quick and settle down for a good nights rest. Foster mama let me try to stay out of the kennel a couple times while she ran errands for an hour and I did awesome. She checked on the cameras and I was a perfect lady. According to my previous foster home, I love love love kids, and clearly I love love love dogs. How about cats you ask? Don’t get me started about those murder mittens. I tried to chase one here and I got my butt whooped. I tried to chase one more time and again Razor paws! I learned fast to live in harmony with the tiny murder mittens here and everything goes much better. Respecting cats is now part of my repertoire.
As for people I will approach almost anyone. I don’t really like fast movements from strangers and will retreat and try to approach again. The first couple of days at my foster home I paced a bit while I was figuring things out, but that went away quickly when I realized this was a nice home that would take care of me during my journey to find you! So whatcha say? Do I sound like the perfect lady for you? (Insert cute puppy dog eyes here) If I’ve caught your heart, clickety click on that button below so we can meet up soon. Husky hugs ~ Karmi
Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
