Hello, my name is Sage, and I am a very delightful and loving adult male Schnauzer who is very friendly, I enjoy greeting everyone I meet, and I am always respectful of other dogs. I suppose I believe in treating others how I would like to be treated…I’m sure you’re familiar with the concept! I hope my new home has a companion for me or at least some fur neighbors with whom I can play and socialize.
I have cataracts in both eyes but believe me, that doesn’t stop me from loving life! I have no problem entertaining myself and I love eating treats, chewing on bully sticks, using a snuffle mat, participating in a good productive obedience training session, playing fetch with balls or stuffed toys…don’t worry, I can tell toys from non-toys…, or simply chasing myself. Don’t judge…if YOU have never tried to chase yourself then don’t judge me! As a matter of fact, if you would just try it, you might like it!! Anyway, foster mom says I’m the “chillest dog” which is probably true since I’m perfectly happy relaxin’ with my peeps and nappin’ all day!! I have been evaluated by a veterinarian ophthalmologist and since I do have some vision and get around just fine, cataract surgery is not a must do.
One of my favorite things in the world is being a “good boy” and making my people proud of me!!! I thrive on praise and my tail is always waggin’ a mile a minute!! I am an incredibly happy boy, and I am super smart which helps me catch on to obedience training quickly, I already know the “sit,” “down,” and “leave it” commands so you can see I’m quite brilliant!! I have never met any cats, but I am good with kids, though I am fearful of loud noises. I do my personal business outside and I leash-walk nicely however, I don’t like that jail thing you people call a “kennel/crate”. The crate terrifies me so bad that my body shakes so foster mom uses an X-pen which isn’t as horrible, and she tries to feed me in the jail…I mean crate…to try to make it a positive experience and all I can say is “good luck with that mom!”
Enough about me for now, are you ready to welcome a wonderful companion into your life who will shower you with so much unconditional love you won’t know what to do with it all? I will put a smile on your beautiful face and brighten up your life so much you’ll need sunglasses. All I ask in return is to be loved unconditionally too, treated with respect and not given up on. I’m so excited to share my love and snuggles with you!! Love, Sage!!
Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
