Hello, my name is Kimsy, and I am a precious and very sweet adult female Cavalier King Charles who is big for a Cavalier - 23# - (so foster mom says) but I am not overweight. I tend to be shy around new people, but I warm up pretty quickly…I’m actually coming out of my shell more and more every day!! Foster mom also says I am not a “lap lover like many Cavaliers” and this is probably true but maybe that’s simply because I’m saving my lap-loving for my perfect furever family!!! I do, however, love to excitedly meet foster mom at the door whenever she returns home!
I am fearful of overwhelming commotion and I have not met any kids or cats, but I am good with other dogs. As a matter of fact, I live with some resident dogs who not only play with me but they teach me a LOT so I really hope my new home has a doggie companion who will play with and mentor me. I also hope there’s a fenced yard where we can safely frolic…my resident buddies and I have the luxury of a fenced yard here where we chase each other around and I cannot imagine my life without that fence not to mention the fact that I’m not trained on that leash thing and since I can be a bit fearful, the fenced yard would help to ensure my safety. I should mention that I have a grade 3 heart murmur and though that doesn’t stop me from living life to the fullest my new family should definitely be aware of it and be able to help me with any future healthcare that may arise. I suppose I should also admit that, though I don’t always do this, I have been known to voice my discontent a bit if I’m left alone but it usually doesn’t last long.
I am a dainty and slow eater and I have discovered that I enjoy treats! When I’m not playing chase in the yard with my friends I love to play with and tear apart stuffed toys…that is, of course, as long as foster mom isn’t looking! l am most comfortable in my safe place, or “crate” as you humans call it. Foster mom has introduced me to this thing called a “dog bed” and I’m learning that’s pretty nice too!! I am a bit of a quick study if you will…when I first came to my foster home, I had no idea what to do with those things you call “stairs” but in just 2 short days I learned how to go up them then a couple days later I learned how to go back down. You know what they say, “what goes up must come down” right!! Anyway, I am doing a great job with potty training too and I have only had two accidents in the house undoubtedly because my amazing foster mom takes me outside every 3 hours…she’s a great lady!! Admittedly, my curiosity can sometimes lead to mischievous behavior on my part like when I discovered some hidden (yeah right, “hidden”) slippers that I pulled out and gnawed on a bit…I didn’t damage them, but foster mom sure learned that she needs to “hide” them better. Foster mom has also learned that leaving things near the edge of the counter where I can get them and pull them down is not a wise decision!!!
Anyway, I know mom will miss me terribly, but I am ready to go to my new home so if you are a patient person who will love me unconditionally, keep me safe and will NOT give up on me then you can come pick me up right now. I’m excited to start my new life with you so hopefully I will see you soon! Love, Kimsy!!
Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
