Hello, my name is Tasha, and I am a very sweet young adult female Chow/Shepherd mix who is about 40 lbs. and loves attention…ok, truth-be-told, I also love being the center of attention!! My other favorite pastimes include playing with toys; chewing on my Benebone; playing with my foster brother in our safely fenced yard; cuddling…I mean seriously, who doesn’t love cuddling am I right…and belly rubs!! Yep, I loves me some rubs on the tum-tums! As for my favorite food, well that’s a no-brainer…chicken feet of course!!! YUUUMMM!!!

Ok, all silliness aside, I warm up quickly to humans, but it may take me a bit to become interested in other dogs. However, I really will benefit from having a fur sib in my new home not only because I suffer from a bit of separation anxiety, but I am also learning a lot from my foster sibs like how to play; go outside; behave on that leash thing and so many other wonderful things that we doggies do. That said, I have a lot of energy so my new sibling will need to be young enough to match my energy level because this girl loves to play whether we’re in the house or outside enjoying nature and getting some vitamin D. By the way, I will need my new home to have a fenced yard where my sibling and I can play and if it’s winter outside I will need to have some boots because my feet get cold super quickly. I’m sure you understand and if not, maybe you want to go outside barefoot in the snow…go ahead, I’ll wait!!

Foster mom says that I listen “very well” and I am super smart. I even know what “sit,” “come,” “leave it,” “wait,” and “go potty” all mean and I’m working on others like “down” and “go to bed” … side note: I’m not crazy about the go-to-bed command cuz that means I go in my crate…so I may have to make foster mom work for that one!! I am a bit of a pro when it comes to ascending those things you humans call stairs, but the descending has me a tad more perplexed, maybe it’s the fear of face-planting at the bottom of them that gets me but whatever it is I admit that I need more practice! I have not met any little people, but I enjoy talking to the strangers that pass by outside and I’m always respectful of cats, mainly because I don’t want to get whacked in the face. Anyway, I need a lot of mental stimulation to help keep me occupied and happy so my new home will hopefully be filled with a lot of great energy!

If you are looking for a new best friend who will love you more than you could ever imagine and who will completely enrich your life, then please come take me home. I promise I am SO worth it!!

Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
