Hello, my name is Elijah, and I am a very sweet, curious and playful male Terrier mix puppy who loves to snuggle and please my people. Foster mom says that I’m a “sweetie pie” and a “gem” which are both completely true!! I am just a little guy and I don’t yet have a lot of fur, so I get cold very quickly and believe me, I do NOT like the cold!! That said, one of my favorite pastimes includes chasing ice cubes…don’t judge!! Speaking of hobbies, I also enjoy frolicking and vocalizing with my foster fur sibs, gnawing on Himalayan chews and playing with small fluffy, rubber or rope dog toys.

I have not met any little kids or cats, but I live with two pre/early teens and I enjoy playing with them…especially when they snuggle me!! I am fearful of loud noises, but I am crate trained…I actually don’t mind being in the crate during the day (if I absolutely have to be) but at night I much prefer to snuggle with foster mom in her bed…it’s really great because we keep each other nice and toasty warm…this comes in very handy on these blustery cold nights…BRRRRR!! I am a bit picky when it comes to food and treats. My stomach has been a tad sensitive lately, so I don’t always eat all of my breakfast, but I usually make up for it at dinner time. I feel very confident that once I’m on a good healthy and consistent diet my tummy issues will settle down. I already know what “leave it” and “go potty” mean and foster mom is teaching me that going outside means that’s when I’m supposed to do my personal business. She’s a great and patient teacher too who always remembers that I’m a puppy so learning new things can take time and is always a work in progress!! That said, I’m sure I will master potty training once I’m on a solid schedule! Since it’s been pretty chilly outside, I have not had a chance to work on leash training, so I really hope my new home has a safely fenced yard…hey, possibly even a fur playmate for me!

Anyhow, I think that’s enough about me for now. I will close by saying this: I really am a wonderful boy who is simply looking for unconditional love, stability and security in a furever home with a patient person who will NOT give up on me. My senses are telling me that you fit that description so I really hope you will come and take me home. I assure you that I am completely worth it; I will totally enrich your life and, if you’ll let me, I will keep you warmer at night than any blanket you could ever find!

Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.       We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.

Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application.

We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
