Hello, my name is Zayn, and I am an adorable, quiet and very loving young adult male Chihuahua mix who tends to be a bit shy at first but once I feel comfortable and safe, I will warm and then my wonderful personality shines and I will keep you laughing with all my energy. I like to think of myself as a social butterfly, but I am fearful of loud noises and a lot of commotion, so I tend to get scared in groups of people. As a matter of fact, when I first got to my foster home, I was even a little fearful of the other foster dog here. She is a lovely English Bulldog with whom I get along very well now…we’re kind of besties you could say!! I have not met any cats, but I did get to meet one of those little people, he was four years old and I did great with him, so I think I’d be ok with cats!

My favorite pastimes include eating, chewing on bones, cuddling and jumping up to kiss my human’s nose and mouth…believe me, I give the best kisses EVER!!! Foster mom has showed me these things called “toys” and I just don’t understand them at all, but I enjoy treats and bully sticks so maybe one day the toys will make sense to me but until then I am perfectly happy snuggling in a lap and giving kisses…after all, it is what I do best! Ok, that’s my own opinion but if you’ll be my new family, I’ll show you! Anyway, I recently experienced my first snow fall…are you kidding me?? Do you realize how cold snow is…BRRRRRR!!! Needless to say, I have not gone for any walks so I will need some leash practice, but I’m completely fine waiting until it warms up!!! That said, if I must go for walks in this frozen tundra, I would really appreciate some boots and a coat!

Foster mom is helping me learn to consistently do my business outside and I’m sure once I’m on a good schedule I will master it. Foster mom even says that I’m “the perfect alarm clock” because I will wake her up when I feel it’s time to go outside so you see I’m already well on my way to being the potty master. I hate that crate thing especially because I really dislike being left alone, and I have no qualms about voicing my discontent if I’m put in there. Thankfully foster mom understands how much I dislike it and she doesn’t make me use it. As a matter of fact, she lets me follow her around everywhere and cuddle up next to her or even snuggle in her lap…I could snuggle in a lap all day long!! I also get to sleep in the bed with her and I nuzzle up right next to her pillow keeping her head nice and toasty, so her dreams are good warm ones! Whenever I get excited about something my legs go crazy and I start leapin’ around and will even stand on my back feet…it cracks foster mom up and I really love to make her laugh!!

Anyway, mom says that I am “the cutest little guy” and I really am!! The only thing missing from my life is a loving and safe furever home. If you are a patient person who will love me unconditionally, keep me safe and NOT give up on me then I would really love to meet you. I promise I’m worth it and if you’ll let me, I will share my amazing kisses with you and keep you warm at night too!!

Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
