Good day! My name is Caius and I’m a sweet, friendly American Bulldog. I am  just over one year young (yes, young) and looking for my FURever home. My foster mom says I’m the happiest boy, which makes sense because my tail is always wagging!  I'm a big puppy and love, play, and act like a puppy!

When it comes to people and other dogs, I love them all and just want them to love me back! This shouldn’t be hard though, as I’m such a lovable, playful guy and just want someone to play with me. The only time you’ll hear me bark is at strangers outside the home, other than that, I’m a very easy going pup.  I haven't met any cats or super small dogs yet - I have no doubt I would like them, but I don't really know my size so caution should be taken with anything small in the house (dogs, cats, kids).  I love the kids in my foster home now who are 8 and 11 years old.

I love to get my exercise by playing fetch and running around outside on my leash (I have to learn how to be comfortable on that thing some way) and it also keeps me safe and secure, which is why I love my foster mom! She’s always doing what’s best for me! Other than exercise, I also enjoy moderate activity, which is typically accompanied by my stuffed animals and Kongs (I always hope they’re filled with something delicious)!

Like some of my other foster FURiends, I am VERY food motivated and love my treats! I think this is pretty common for you humans too, right? Although, I love my treats, I know that it’s also important to have my scheduled meal times in order to get adequate nutrition into my daily diet. I think this is one of my foster mom’s super powers – she is always know what food to feed me and it makes me so happy!

My foster mom says I’m the packaged deal complete with being potty trained and crate trained AND I even know a couple commands including “Come!” and “Go Potty,” which comes in handy when I need to go outside for my potty breaks. Speaking of potty breaks, I’m still working on leash training, but making great progress and do very well going out on a leash for my potty breaks and exercise. I think my daily walks outside on my leash will really help me become more comfortable with it and before you know it, I’ll be begging to go out on a walk with you!  I don't require a fenced in yard as long as you are committed to taking me on walks to get some exercise.

If you are ready to give me my FURever home, I promise to love you unconditionally, offer as many tail wags my tail can give and supply you with endless happiness and unconditional love! I can’t wait to meet you!

Love, Caius

Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
