Hello, my name is Ziggy and I am a spunky, playful and wiggly…I love that word…young male Chihuahua mix who is friendly to everyone I meet and loves to give kisses!!! I enjoy playing fetch and love playing with my best friend in the whole world…Pogo, she is a stuffed sheep…foster mom doesn’t know that I have named her so let’s keep that our little secret!

I enjoy frolicking with other doggies, and eating…any food, I’m not picky! I don’t use my voice much unless something alarms me. I am crate and fully potty trained (when on a good schedule) and I am good with the leash even though I tend to pull momma along on our walks. Younger children don’t bother me, and I live with some of those meowy things. I always try to play with them, but they are having none of that!!!! Foster mom says that I “can’t read social cues” and she is clearly right about that considering that I keep trying to play with them…I mean seriously, even monkeys learn, am I right???!!!!!!! Anyway, aside from my inability to take a whack-in-the-face as a clear message that there will be no kitty play, I am a very smart boy! I know exactly what to do when foster mom says, “come,” “leave it,” “go potty,” and “kennel/crate” …I truly am a genius!

Foster mom says that I am the “best foster she’s ever had” and I’m sure she’s right because I really am quite the catch!! Anyway, I know she’s going to be super sad when I go to my new home, but she knows my biggest dream is to find a furever family. If you are a patient person who will love me unconditionally, keep me safe and are looking for the “sweetest little man ever” who will love you in return then please come meet me and take me to my new home. I assure you I’m worth it and I will enrich your life more than you could possibly know!

Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
