Hello, my name is Natalie and I am a sweet and happy young adult female Shepherd mix who is on the hunt for my new furever home. I am a tad timid when I first meet new people but after a few minutes, when I’ve had some time to warm up to you, I am all about the snuggles!!! I would have to say that snuggles are my favorite thing in the world! My foster mom keeps telling me that I’m too big to sit in her lap, but I completely disagree with her and I try to prove it to her a lot! She also calls me a “Velcro” dog and I have no idea what that is but mom’s pretty smart, so I have no doubt she knows what she’s talking about. Anyway, I love to follow my people from room to room and if I could be touching you ALL the time I would…. OOOOOHHHHH, NOW I know what she means by “Velcro” dog…she’s so silly!!
I enjoy chewing on Benebone chews and I love any toy that squeaks, especially tennis balls. Foster mom and I will play fetch in the backyard…she thinks I still have to learn how to bring the ball back but really, I just need a periodic break in the action to catch my breath. I do tend to chew up my toys if I’m left alone with them for very long, but mom is thrilled that I have kept my chewing to only the toys that belong to me. Next there’s snacks…I loves me some treats and foster mom is teaching me commands like “sit,” “lay down,” and “watch me” and if I follow through with the commands she gives me a treat…who wouldn’t want to learn new things especially when treats are involved! I enjoy laying in my kennel at night or relaxing in a fluffy, cozy dog bed but if you’ll allow me to snuggle on the furniture with you, I would love that even more!
I have not had any experience with kids or those meowy things, but I live with a foster fur brother and I will admit that I can sometimes get a little snippy with him if he tries to interrupt me when I’m doing something I love. This is only because living in a home with so many wonderful things available to me is still pretty new, and sometimes I worry that I will lose my toys, so I become possessive. Foster mom is helping me learn that there are plenty of toys to go around, and that it's not only okay to share but it’s the polite thing to do. I have never been possessive with humans though and I love to share with them. When I get to my new home if there is another doggie there I’m sure we’d get along fine as long as my new family is willing to continue helping me learn to share and we are able to have a slow introduction because I can be a little nervous at first…it took me two weeks to get comfortable enough to play with my foster fur brother and now we’re great together as long as the play doesn’t get too rough! I am leash trained and working hard at potty training, but I know once I’m on a good schedule I will master it. I am also pretty quiet unless something alarms me.
Anyway, I really am a super sweet and snuggly girl who just wants to be loved like everyone else. Foster mom says that I am a “real gem” and I would have to agree with her! Now I just wish I could find a furever home with a patient person who will love me unconditionally, keep me safe and will NOT give up on me. If you fit that description and are looking for snuggly wanna-be-lap-dog companion who will love you unconditionally in return, then you have found your match. Please come and take me home so we can begin our life together, I promise I am worth it, and I will enrich your life!!
Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
