Hello, my name is Ferb and I am an outgoing, happy and healthy young adult male Chihuahua who loves to be where the action is even if I am a bit more of a watcher than a participant. I definitely appreciate a doggie bed where I can chill and watch the goings-on around me. I also enjoy spending time in my safe place (crate/kennel) where I can go to get a break from the action or just be alone with my thoughts. However, in the morning when I’ve been in my crate overnight, if foster mom isn’t up when I want her to be, I will act as her alarm. I really love when my humans give me loving attention and pets but I must admit that I prefer ladies even though I am learning that men are ok too…I’m sure the more I’m around men who are gentle with me the more comfortable I will be with them. I also enjoy eating pretty much any treat that is offered to me!
I am a super smart boy and when foster mom says “go potty” I know exactly what I’m supposed to do and I have a specific place where I do it that way foster mom doesn’t have to search the yard over for a bunch of land mines…I’m pretty sure she appreciates that not to mention that I’m pretty quick about it too. I have to admit though that I sometimes have a number-2 accident in my safe place during the night or if foster mom doesn’t see me asking to go outside. I try REALLY hard not to have accidents but sometimes it’s unavoidable, so I really hope that my new family is home most of the time and pays a lot of attention to me, so they know when I need to do my business. I do enjoy going for leashed walks, but my legs are super short, so longer walks are not good for me. However, a back/front pack or a stroller are great modes of transportation for me because they allow my family to get the exercise they want and allow me to enjoy the great outdoors with my family and of course, I want to be with my family as much as I can even relaxing on the bed or in a lap.
I am a bit fearful of children due to the commotion and I’ve not had any experience with cats but I’m good with other doggies, especially if they are close to my size. If something alarms or scares me I growl ferociously…ok, in my own mind it’s ferocious…anyway, once I let the scary things know I’m there and foster mom gives me loves and hugs I settle down right away…sometimes foster mom will really gently tap my little nose and say “no” but she never does it hard because she would never want to hurt me! I also like to voice my excitement when it’s dinner time, but foster mom gently corrects me then too, and I calm down.
Foster mom says that I am “so, so, fun” and I’m “soft and cuddly and I make her laugh every day.” I know she is going to be super sad to see me go to my new home, but she knows that’s my life-long dream! If you are a patient person who will love me unconditionally, keep me safe and are looking for a comical, perky companion who will love you unconditionally in return, then you have found your match. Please come and take me home so we can begin our life together, I promise I will enrich your life!!
Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
