Hello, my name is Jackson and I am a very sweet senior male Terrier mix who is simply looking for love and a cuddle companion. I enjoy sleeping and I do a lot of it! I don’t know if you know this or not but it’s rough getting old!! I have arthritis but I take an over-the-counter chondroitin/glucosamine/MSM supplement and Hemp oil for discomfort! Toys interest me but only for a short period of time because I would much rather cuddle on the couch and sleep. I also enjoy any soft treats and I love Zuke’s!!

I am a very smart old guy. I know the “come,” “kennel/crate,” “outside,” “go potty” and “sit” commands…However, I will admit that I don’t like to “sit” because of my arthritis so I will either stand or lie down. I also know the word “out” means for me to leave the room I’m currently in.  I don’t have any real fears and I think I may be losing some of my hearing.  I am always respectful of cats and good with other doggies as long as they’re not energetic or playful I also don’t think I’d like the energy of those little people. I really hope my new home has a fenced yard and people that are home most, if not all, of the time! I am good on a leash, but I tire very quickly…it’s pretty awesome because my foster mom brings a stroller with us when we go on walks so that if I get tired, I have a ride home! As with many senior citizens, I have some slight incontinence issues, so my foster mom puts a belly band on me which helps avoid any embarrassing accidents! I am a part of the family and want to be wherever my peeps are so I will voice my discontent if I am separated from my family including being put in that crate/kennel thing. I admit I whine a lot but I think it could be because of my arthritis pain and the fact that I have a bit of separation anxiety…I really just want to be loved by my family and fear they will leave me never to return and at my age, that fear and anxiety may be very difficult for me to overcome.

I know my foster mom is going to be super sad to see me go but she knows that my life-long dream is to find my furever home with a patient person who will love me unconditionally and keep me safe. If you are looking for an incredibly sweet old man who loves to cuddle and will love you unconditionally in return, then please stop looking right now because you have found your perfect match. Please come and take me home so we can begin our life together, I promise I will enrich your life!!

Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
