Hi- my name is Neo and I am a sweet and active 15# chihuahua mix. I would love to find a family with a fenced yard that would love to play fetch as much as I do! When not playing fetch, I love cuddling and playing with toys.

I have been around older kids and like cuddling with them when they watch TV or doing homework. I have been doing my homework too and am practicing my potty-training skills and letting my people know when I need to go out. I am also working on extra credit and practicing walking on a leash – for safety, my foster family dresses me in a fancy harness. I’m so handsome!

Another dog in the house will be very helpful so I learn about a routine. I am a social guy and like to keep track of the activity in the house – most of the time I use my “inside voice,” but do get excited and will let you know! My foster mom said that it is important that I find a home without a cat – apparently she thinks I am too interested and I would agree! All the stuff outside is very exciting to me too and I love to sit on the back of the couch and watch the neighborhood – I will let you know if I see anything with a “gruff” and sometimes a “woof!”

Just a note that I came from a shelter in Texas and my friends at Underdog found out I was heartworm positive when I came to MN. I have finally finished my treatment, and will need heartworm preventative year-round for the rest of my life. I certainly don’t want to go thru that treatment again, so counting on you to help me stay healthy.  Anyway, I know my foster family will be so sad when I go to my new home, but they know that I am destined to find a furever home filled with unconditional love, patience and lots of time to play fetch!

Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
