Hello, my name is Oreo and I am a beautiful, affectionate, high-energy young adult female Lab/Pitbull Mix who loves playing and cuddling. I get nervous and will bark when I meet men, but I usually warm up quickly. I need to be watched around children because I have a tendency to jump on people. My foster mom is helping me learn not to do that but it’s a work in progress. She is also helping me learn to do my personal business outside and I have no doubt that once I’m on a good schedule, I will be the potty-outside pro! I am very food motivated and mealtime is my favorite time of day!!

I like to chew on toys, bones and those things you humans call “shoes.” Sometimes my foster mom will throw a ball and want me to go “fetch” it…sometimes I will, but sometimes I think “you threw it, you go ‘fetch’ it!” I am very good at sitting when my foster mom says the word “sit” and coming to her when she calls my name. I am crate and leash trained; however, I need a treat to be coaxed into that cave thing and I will cry for a while if you leave me in there…I mean seriously…I would much rather cuddle in the bed with my peeps. As for the leash, I have a specific harness I wear that my foster mom calls a gentle leader and I like to pull on it. I also will bark at other dogs and don’t consistently do my personal business if I’m on the leash…so, a fenced yard at my new home would be fantastic!! I must add though, that I am good at going for runs without the gentle leader and running helps release some of the energy that I have. It keeps the “wiggles” away. I am good with other dogs my size, but I get aggressive with larger dogs…after all, we ladies need to prove our dominance to those larger than us…am I right!? I also have a high prey drive and will chase those meowy things, so it’s best that I’m not around them.

My life is pretty good but there is one thing missing…I would really love to find a furever home where there is someone home most of the time who will be patient with me and give me the exercise I need. If you are a patient person filled with unconditional love to share and you are looking for a very sweet girl in your life who loves to cuddle and give kisses, then you have met the girl for you!! I hope you’ll hurry and come bring me home so we can begin to enrich each other’s life.

 

 

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
