Hi my name is Vesta! I came to rescue from a breeder release. That means I hadn’t spent much time around people or being an indoor doggie. My foster family is teaching me how to enjoy what they call “the good things in life”. So far my favorite good things are toys and my foster brother who likes to play with me! I like to carry the toys around the house and if I’m feeling brave I find a nice place to hang out and chew on one for a little bit. I have lots of foster siblings here, but the one who is closest to my size is my favorite because we wrestle and that is SO much fun! Foster mom says that’s when she sees my little tail wag the most. They say going for walks are another one of those good things in life. I like walks, but they can be a little scary, especially when loud cars drive by. And what’s this leash business? Sometimes I’ll be walking and that thing gets wrapped around my leg or falls in front of my face and that scares me! I like to be pet, but I’m a Shiba as you know so that means petting and snuggles must be on my terms. I’ll let you know when I want love, but if I do please scratch the top of my head between my ears, that’s my faaavorite! I am potty trained already, I will be vocal and let you know if I have to go outside. They say I’m crate trained too, but I don’t really like that thing, so I’ll let you know when I’m ready to come out in the morning! If you have kitties that’s okay too! I am nice to the cats here at my foster home, I just like to smell them and move along with my day. I would really like to find a forever home with a fenced yard to play in, with a family who has another active dog for me to wrestle with. Having a sibling will help me feel safe and secure in my new home.
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
