My name is Cagney. I am an adorable Pomsky puppy who likes everyone and every animal I meet. I am both deaf and vision impaired, yet, this does not stop me from living life to the fullest. They say I am a typical spunky puppy. I love to run and play with the other dogs and I also seek out the cats to play with me because they are more my size. I am learning about the cats I live with and they are not always a fan of my playfulness.
One of my favorite things to do is play tug with the other dogs. I prance around with a tug toy in my mouth and tease them a bit so they will play with me. My favorite things in life so far include chewing on antlers or bones (they say it is because I have puppy teeth), unstuffing toys, jumping in and out of my little blue swimming pool, and I have recently discovered that laying on the big dog beds is the BEST! Did I say that I love to play chase with the other dogs in the fenced backyard? People see me and wonder how I can be visually impaired. My foster parents remind them that since two of my senses - hearing and sight - are not there that others have to help even more. I have a really good sniffer and can be seen navigating the yard and the house with my nose down. Since I’m vision impaired and deaf, a fenced yard is required in order to ensure my safety.
I have not had experience with young people so if my forever family has children, they will need to understand that I cannot hear them and see them like other dogs they might know.
I am working hard on potty training and I know I’ll be a pro once I’m on a good schedule. Crate training is important and I continue to work on that. The humans have been working on my leash training and they say there is still more work to do. I know the basic command - sit! Might not seem like a big deal, yet, without being able to hear the word, the humans tap me right by the tail and I just sit right down and wait for that treat. Cool huh?
Do you have another dog who will be tolerant of puppy behavior and would be able to help me navigate my world? That would be the best!
If you are a patient person who will love me unconditionally, watch me carefully while I learn new things, and remember that my training will require diligence, patience, and possibly some innovative thinking, (like using different types of touch) then you are the perfect person for me. I don’t need to see or hear you to love you unconditionally.
Many of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void. We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.
Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee. Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application.
We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
