Hello, my name is Zach. I am a handsome healthy adult male Bichon Frise who is quite timid and easily spooked by sudden noises, but I am slowly adjusting to life in a home and with humans. I am getting more comfortable with the activity and routine in my new foster home. I am still fearful around my new human family, but I have been making some progress. I have even started to relax enough around my foster mom to lay on her lap for some snuggles. I am very food motivated and will take treats from my human’s hands.

I am a very gentle, submissive boy with my foster sister (who rules the roost), but I have not been tested around other dogs, children, or cats yet. I have quickly adapted to walking on a leash…even if my body does freeze a bit…and I love getting out for walks around the neighborhood. I am working hard on potty training and will go potty while on the leash; however, most of the time, I get to do my personal business in the safety of a fenced yard. I am crate trained and rarely bark.

Admittedly, I am a very handsome guy with gorgeous dark eyes!! I am full of energy and can be a little mischievous…my foster mom is confident that as I come out of my shell, I will be a very fun loving companion and will melt hearts. She’s so silly…I’m sure she realizes that I already will melt hearts!!! Anyway, if you are a patient person who will love me unconditionally and allow me to come out of my shell in my own time, then you are the person I would love to have as my new BFF. Please hurry, I’m awaiting your arrival and I promise to totally enrich your life and love you unconditionally in return!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
