Hello, my name is Gimlet - vodka or gin, your choice! But, I prefer to be addressed with my title as well, “Cutest Darn Dog in the Whole Wide World”. No, I’m not narcissistic at all! My foster mom does tell people that I was a ‘hot mess’ when I came to her house - putrid and filthy. After more baths than I can count, she washed my history down the drain and now I am the little white fluffy I was born to be!
I’m 2 ½ years young and still live in my puppy brain. The dogs that live in my foster home are showing me the rules of the house. I’m learning how to make good decisions on my own, but I usually just follow the pack when they’re on the move. Usually it’s because we’re going outside to potty or mom has my most favoritest thing in the universe, FOOD! Foster mom has been using that obsession against me though, she makes me actually do something before I can get a treat. Doesn’t she know who I am?! My title?!
To keep my foster mom on track, I talk to her a lot. “Bark bark bark play growl bark bark bark”. She doesn’t seem to understand my language, so I just talk louder at her. But she tells me to shush and that I should only speak when spoken to!
I have a bit of a wild side and I don’t let no leash take me down. Foster mom keeps attaching one to my harness and telling me I have to learn how to use it, but I do not like it. I just plop down on the sidewalk and have a temper tantrum. But, she says not everyone has a fenced in backyard and I’ll have to accept it, so I can go on walks.
There is a mom and a dad and 3 resident little white fluffies in my foster home, but no cats, kids, or big dogs live here, so I don’t know how I would react to any of those things yet. I do approach both mom and dad now, paws up on the sofa, looking for food, of course. I will sit on my foster mom’s lap for as long as she’ll let me, but I won’t let her pick me up whenever she wants. Hasn’t she heard of personal space?! We have created a routine for that though, she tells me to go lay on a dog bed and then she can pick me up, while saying, “Up, up”. But, I have trained her too. When she’s petting the dog next to me, I’ll lick her fingers or poke them with my nose, all while gazing up at her with my puppy dog eyes. Works every time! You think you have what it takes to ignore puppy dog eyes? Game on!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
