Hello, my name is Ophelia and I am a happy, healthy young adult female Boxer who is a big sweetheart and definitely not shy at all!

I am kennel and potty trained and will do my personal business outside especially on a good schedule. I know the command to go outside too!  I am a quiet and affectionate girl and enjoy playing with my human(s), especially tug of war, and getting rubbed around my ears - pretty much everywhere because it feels so good!  I even know the “kennel/crate” command...I truly am brilliant!

I spend some time with young children because my foster has a daycare, and I pretty much mind my business when I’m around them, with the occasional kiss here and there!  I haven’t spent much time with those purring things.  However, I will tell you that one time while I had my leash on, I did get my picture taken with one of those purring things and I did perfectly fine…the kitty didn’t whack me in the face even once…they’re really not so bad!! I do well with the leash, but my foster mom has a fenced yard for me to run and play in, so I haven't had regular outings with the leash yet.  I sure hope that my furever home has a fenced yard for me too because the freedom is just too great to give up.

I am perfectly fine being the only pup in the house, as long as my humans are home most of the time.  I get along great with other dogs though, so I wouldn’t mind another friend in the home!  Now all I need to make my life complete is a furever home with someone who has as much unconditional love to share as I do.  I think you should come meet and take me home, so we can become lifelong besties.  I will be here waiting patiently for you!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
