My name is Tadd and I am a calm quiet little guy who is a bit on the timid side. There are so many fast moving noisy things in this new world of mine! I like to lay on my blanket and observe everything around me, luckily my foster sister lays on my blanket with me too. She helps me be brave and I try to follow her around so I can learn from her. I like all the other dogs in my foster house, they can get in my space anytime; however, I prefer to interact with humans on my terms. But lately, I’ve been coming into the kitchen by myself when foster mom is in there, to give her a sniff and see what she is doing. I am getting a little more confident every day, soon my foster mom will stop calling me a nervous Nellie. Doesn’t she know that I’m not a girl dog?!
As long as I have chewies, I am a happy camper, but I have not yet figured out what to do with these things my hoomans call toys. I don't yell at the neighbordogs like my foster brother does, I am quiet and show my good manners when we’re in the backyard. I also use my manners in the house, I like to be quiet as a mouse, in a house!
I like my crate and all its blankets that I sleep in at night, it’s warm and safe. I know to go potty outside, but don’t always remember that’s the ONLY place to go potty, so I keep working on that. My foster mom has put jingly bells on the door and is helping me learn how to make them move when I need to go outside. Apparently foster mom isn’t a mind reader and I have to tell her when I need to go out!
Fun fact about my fellow Maltese buddies, we were a hit among royalty; queens especially cherished us and would feed us out of gold dishes. Lucky for you, I don’t expect to be fed out of gold dishes, but I will make sure you always feel like royalty!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
