Hello, my name is Felix and I'm a young adult male Italian Greyhound. I'm very sweet and shy, but my goofy self is starting to show (I stick out my tongue when I'm excited!). I'm always curious about what's happening at any given time, but I don’t get too close. New things can be scary. I recently conquered the stairs! Just up, not down... so please retrieve me for some pets and scratches, though I don’t really care to be held for too long.
I enjoy sleeping through the night in my safe place. My foster mom calls it a crate. After a long day of being ultra-alert, I enjoy a full night’s sleep in my safe haven. I also enjoy having company and don’t think I’d do well if you left me alone. I have a bit of separation anxiety, but I'm learning that it'll be okay when my people leave the house. I'm crate trained and prefer to be in my safe place if I’m home alone. I also look to my foster sibs for confidence when our foster mom is gone. They're patient with me, even if I bark for a few minutes when mom leaves. It would be really fantastic if my furever home has another doggie to help me feel comfortable, safe, and confident.
I am working on potty training and it's going well, but I sometimes mark my area if no one is paying attention. Once I have some consistent training and a good schedule, I'll have this down. Sometimes I get a little spooked when I'm outside. I don't know how to walk on a leash, so please give me a fenced-in yard to play in. My people say I'm a "flight risk", whatever that means. Maybe I'll skip pilot school and stick to my day job being a goofy guy.
I enjoy treats and squeaky toys, but I'm fearful of commotion. I'm not sure how I would do with little people or kitties. I'm starting to feel more courageous and comfortable around new people. If you’re a patient person who would like to help me gain more confidence, I think we should meet. I know that with support, patience, and unconditional love, you and I would be the best of friends.
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
