Hello, my name is Owen and I am a young adult male Cocker Spaniel who is shy but just waiting to come out of my shell.  I have a lot of energy and would love to have another canine companion to play with.  Currently, I don’t really play with toys (though I am trying to learn how) so a canine friend would be awesome!!!

Loud noises, sudden movements, and a lot of commotion frighten me, so I don’t think I do all that well around kids…especially if they’re rambunctious. I don’t think kitties would be good for me either.  I have a safe cave that I go into; my foster mom calls it a crate…I whine when I first go in there just to let any monsters that may be in there know that I’m coming in and they better leave…once they leave I calm down and am fine in there.  I am also working REALLY hard on potty training and if I’m on a good schedule, I will be a perfect outdoor pooper/pottier.

In addition to loud noises, sudden movements, and commotion, I am also a bit afraid of new things in general, so when my foster mom tries to put this rope thing she calls a leash on me, I don’t do very well.  It’s a good thing she has a fenced yard for me to frolic in.  My furever home will for sure need a fenced yard too so that I can run all over the place and be freeeee!!!

My foster mom says that I am “just adorable, rambunctious, and silly” around other doggies…that’s ‘cuz I get so excited to see them and play!  You’d be excited too if you had furry friends you could play with all day!  My foster mom thinks it’s funny that one of my ears is longer than the other and says I have a face that’s to “die for”…I don’t want anyone to die when they look at my face, but it’s nice to know that others think I’m as adorable as I KNOW I am…I’m just sayin’!

I really think that you should come meet me ‘cuz I just know that as soon as we see each other we will fall in love and be BFFs!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
