Hello, my name is Lambchop and I am a healthy female senior Bichon Frise who is very shy and timid, so I’m really a bit of a loner. Maybe one day I will feel completely safe and begin to participate in the goings-on around me, but for now I’m happy just observing them.
I will admit that my soul is damaged and I am not really sure about you humans. My foster mom and I are still getting to know each other, but luckily she is a very patient lady and I appreciate that trait enormously. I don’t mind being in the house around you humans, but I will cower from you; I will sit on your lap if you lift me up, but I would prefer to lie in my doggie bed in the same room...that way I can watch you and slowly learn to trust you. I am trying hard to learn to trust and repair my soul, but it took years to damage, so it will not be fixed in a day.
I am potty trained and have not had a single accident since coming to my foster home. I don’t mind being in my crate; it’s really safe in there. Since coming to my foster home I have been a very quiet girl, as a matter of fact, I haven’t used my voice at all except when I ask to be let in if I’m outside...I don’t even give a signal if I need to go outside…I just wait for my foster mom to let me out…I know, I should learn to tell her when I have to go but maybe that will come in time.
My foster mom doesn’t know this so please don’t tell her…but I felt her spying on me one day and she caught me playing with stuffed squeaky toys that I enjoy chewing on…Maaan, that was supposed to be a secret, but I suppose if we’re going to get to know each other, I have to let her in on some of my likes and dislikes! I love mealtime and all treats; I will even gently take the treats from your hand…I am a very gentle girl.
I am fearful of loud noises, commotion, and new things and I will run and hide if I feel scared or in danger. Thankfully, I do very well on a leash since even though my foster mom has a fenced yard, she still needs to tie me up when I’m outside because one time something scared the bejesus out of me and I pulled right out of my harness then spent the night under my foster mom’s deck…she tried diligently to get me out, but I was so scared that I couldn’t move. Luckily, it was nice outside...so my foster mom just let me be and allowed me to come out once I felt safe.
I am a very sweet and docile girl who is good with other doggies, but I have not been around any of those meowy things and would prefer not to be around any kiddies. I try to play with toys and my foster fur sib, so that my foster mom can see my true spirit come out…it’s fun ‘cuz then my tail goes up and starts wagging…it makes my foster mom smile and I like making her smile.
I think I’m learning to trust more and more everyday because when I go night-night in my crate and my foster mom comes to let me out in the morning, I’m very excited to see her…I know part of the excitement is that I’m being let out of my safe place and part is ‘cuz I know I will get to go do my personal business outside, but I really believe that part of it is because I’m learning to trust my foster mom who is a human…YAY for me!
If you have a lot of unconditional love to share and are someone who is willing to spend time with me, show me that there are a lot of good humans out there, help me continue learning to trust, and want to help repair my soul then I would really love to meet you! I will be here patiently waiting for you!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application.
NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
